Enter the MSI MEG Z490 Unify. A motherboard which sticks to the all black parts and PCB that are the basis for all modern motherboards, but entirely dispenses with the RGB onboard, limiting itself to just a couple of LED strip headers and these are in black, keeping that Spinal Tap aesthetic.

The ATX-sized Gaming Carbon WiFi has always been a good seller through generations as it employs a number of manufacturer-specific features without breaking the bank. The Godlike series from MSI, as the name would suggest, is designed to showcase what the brand is capable of. When cost is thrown out and everything else is thrown in, the result is a board that aims to be the best at everything. For the MSI MEG Z490 Godlike that means a top-tier 16 phase VRM with 90 A power stages, as well as a finned and actively cooled heatsink.

MSI MEG Z490 ACE

MSI uses eight Intersil phase controllers with 16 power stages (actually, 16+1 in total) rated at 90A and as we’ve mentioned, these are actively cooled. However, even in the fan’s boost mode where it spins up at the lowest temperature and after 10 minutes of full non-AVX load with our Core i9-10900K, the VRMs sat below 55°C and the fan failed to reach its start-up temperature.
