It is also worth mentioning that MSI B550-A PRO , MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge and MSI MAG B550 Tomhawk motherboards have identical 10 + 2 + 1 power sections, so their efficiency should be very similar. Stylistically, the Tomahawk series has turned towards the PRO models , with characteristic geometric eyes on the heat sinks and the grille, discreetly giving way to more fancy designs – MPG Gaming Edgeand MPG Gaming Carbon , available only in WiFi variants (which the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk does not have).

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK

First up we have the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk. MSI models are largely split between MEG and MAG models, with the MEG usually being the more premium types – Godlike etc – whilst the MAG is their more mid-range offerings. MSI MEG Z490 ACE

The VRMs delivered all the power we needed for rock solid performance and that meant we were able to focus on the CPU and those ten cores of 4.9GHz goodness. We also used the BIOS to overclock the CPU to hit 5.2GHz, however there were plenty of features we ignored and we didn’t get too hung up on the £400 price, or at least, not until now.
