Silicon Motion Launches PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 Controller

TAIPEI and MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 20, 2020 — Silicon Motion Technology Corporation (NasdaqGS: SIMO) (“Silicon Motion”), a global leader in designing and marketing NAND flash controllers for solid-state storage devices, today announced a new portfolio of PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 controller solutions to address performance, mainstream and value SSD applications.  The portfolio consists of SM2264 for performance, SM2267 for mainstream and SM2267XT for value DRAM-less client SSDs.   

Silicon Motion’s latest controller family has been designed from the ground up with PCIe Gen4 technology and innovative hardware features especially optimized for true Gen4 performance at low power consumption, advanced error correction as well as data path and EMI protections. 9/28/20 Tech News: Sabrent Rocket Q4 NVMe 2TB SSD & More

Continuing along, the Rocket Q4 chewed through AS SSD like it was no big deal, and when unleashed on ATTO, the Rocket Q4 served up truly elite performances. Next and probably the most impressive for a QLC SSD, the Rocket Q4 delivered over 800 MB/s when writing 100GB of data. Rounding things out, the Rocket Q4 served up excellent user experience, as demonstrated by our PCMark 1o Quick System Disk test.

Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD – Debut Reviews

ADATA FALCON 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD

ADATA released a new NVMe SSD, it should be a value product based on the new Realtek RTS5762DL controller that moved its data over 4 channels. The product is tagged to reach 3 GBs reads and 1.5 GB/s writes at a price of roughly 130 USD for the 1TB model. We check out if the product is worth it.

TeamGroup Cardea Ceramic C440 PCIe 4.0 NVMe

In the past half-year or so you’ll have seen a few PCIe Gen 4.0 related announcements. Of course, the dazzling numbers from SSDs at that speed do impress. Teamgroup released the Cardea Ceramic C440 at roughly 20 Cents per GB, and you can purchase it in a 1TB and 2TB model, the C440 units will be available at 199 USD for the 1TB version.
