Supermicro X11SRi-IF

Designed for multiplatform servers, the single consumer function we can apply to the X11SRi-IF is as a secondary number-crunching board in dual-platform prosumer PCs. Excellent performance aligns it well to that niche within a niche, but US buyers will probably have to wait for a server component seller to carry it before finding a single-unit listing.

GIGABYTE MW51-HP0

The GIGABYTE MW51-HP0 is a CEB form-factor motherboard that is aimed at users looking to build a professional workstation on the Intel C422 chipset with support for Xeon W processors. Some of the board’s key features include dual Intel NICs, ten SATA ports, support for quad-channel RDIMM and LRDIMM DDR4 memory, and seven full-length PCIe 3.0 slots backed by a single Broadcom PEX8747 PLX chip.

Supermicro X11SRA

Today we continue to our reviews of the C422-based motherboards with Supermicro‘s X11SRA (product link). The LGA2066 takes a traditional approach to the design, but while that’s true, it doesn’t lack on features. The X11SRA comes with dual M.2 and dual U.2 as well as multi-Gigabit Ethernet – just to name a few things. There’s no doubt that you can build a great workstation with the X11SRA as a base.

The X11SRA works only with the Xeon-W family of CPUs, analagous to the Skylake-X Core CPUs but supporting RDIMMs and ECC for up to 512GB of memory. These systems are designed to deliver a lot of horsepower, up to 18 cores, as well as storage and other needs.

GIGABYTE MW51-HP0

A processor isn’t worth much without memory to go along with it. The MW51-HP0 has eight DIMM slots for DDR4 memory modules in quad-channel configuration. You can install RDIMM and LRDIMM modules with a capacity up to 64GB, based on a 1.2V profile and up to 2666MHz. That is up to 512GB of fast memory and up to 18 CPU cores.
