The MSI Z370 Krait Gaming falls under the Performance Gaming category from the manufacturer, and is deemed second only to the Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon variants in the same category. The “Krait” portion of the product name appears to be referring to a snake species from India, thus the scales on the box art and arcing pattern on the motherboard itself.

MSI X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

MSI’s X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC ($369.99 MSRP), as its name implies, tilts heavily toward gaming use. There aren’t a lot of X399 motherboards on the market at all, and all are pricey, in the $300-plus range; we saw just six models at the time of the Ryzen Threadripper launch, and we still see less than 10 for sale on Newegg.com at this writing.

ASRock Z370 Taichi

The new board replaces its predecessor’s PCH-based x16-length slot with an x1 slot that’s still able to hold longer cards but is less likely to be confused for a high-bandwidth slot, replaces its predecessor’s  internally-mounted USB 3.1 port for a now-standard front-panel header, and trades in the black-and-white color scheme for black and grey.
