However, Gigabyte’s designers have taken the feedback from the media and builders to make this board even better than their 300 series predecessors. This X470 board has toned down the plastic and over-aggressive molding of boards past, in favor of a more industrial and anodized styling. We’d call that an improvement.

The STRIX X470-F GAMING features a neutral, black and white colour scheme, onto which the usual Aura Sync RGB colours are introduced on the IO shield at the back of the motherboard, illuminating the wedge shape and ROG logo. The graffiti style text on the southbridge heatsink gives an iridescent effect, changing colour depending on the angle of light hitting it.

But I’m excited to see what everyone is going to do different this generation, I’m not used to seeing new AMD boards on the regular like this, I could get used to it! So to start things off I’m going to check out the X470 Gaming M7 AC from MSI that MSI and AMD provided.

At the very least you can see that the Crosshair VII Hero comes with all the bells and whistles that one would hope to find on a premium ROG motherboard. Certainly if you want to start your 2nd Generation Ryzen journey off on the best foot this is a great platform from which to do so.
