Most motherboards in this class would use something along the lines of an Intel Xeon E-2100, Intel Xeon D or Atom CPU. Instead, ASRock Rack fits a massive socket LGA3647 for the Intel Xeon Scalable family.

ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6

ASRock does an excellent job of tweaking its design to shave money off its budget-priced X399 board, delivering an adequately equipped and modestly performing motherboard. Though not quite on-par with typical X399 offerings, this interpretation of the chipset may force others to lower the cost of entry into AMD’s HEDT space.

ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING

As the name would suggest, the ASUS TUF Z390-Pro Gaming is part of the TUF Gaming Alliance, a collaboration spearheaded by ASUS to produce a family of hardware with a common visual theme and exceptional quality and durability. Now, if someone had tried to sell me, sight unseen, on a black/gray and yellow color scheme with digital cameo accents, I would have had trouble taking them seriously.

ASUS ROG ZENITH EXTREME ALPHA

The ASUS X399 ROG Zenith Extreme was up there with the best of the X399 motherboards we reviewed but there are always improvements to be made and ASUS have returned to the drawing board and put together an upgraded version to allow even the most hardcore users to extract the maximum performance from their setup.

EVGA Z390 FTW

EVGA’s motherboards have long held a strong following within the PC DIY community. EVGA maintains a relatively small motherboard portfolio by the standards of its competitors, just a handful of motherboards per chipset, containing models specifically for overclockers and gamers alike. EVGA simply does not do a “low-end” or “entry-level” motherboard for Z390, as the Z390 FTW intends to demonstrate.
