ASRock X299 Taichi XE

Recently we had tested on OCinside.de the X299 Taichi High-End motherboard from ASRock and today we want to see the latest ASRock X299 Taichi XE in comparison. Because in the meantime ASRock has added a new XE version for different ASRock motherboards. We will see if ASRock again has improved their powerful Intel LGA 2066 motherboard.

ASRock X399M Taichi

Overclocking features are still maintained, and overall quality doesn’t seem to have taken a hit. Many vendors have opted not to venture into the niche market of small form factor motherboards, but ASRock goes head first into these markets as we have seen with ASRock’s Intel HEDT motherboards, so let’s see what they have for AMD’s HEDT platform.

ASRock X299 Taichi

Today we tested and overclocked the ASRock X299 Taichi motherboard. After the AMD Ryzen Threadripper ASRock X399 Taichi motherboard we now have the pleasure to test an Intel Core i9-7900X Skylake-X CPU on the ASRock X299 Taichi motherboard. As previously reported in the Intel OC Community, we were able to overclock the Core i9-7900X from 3.3 GHz to almost 5.2 GHz and this is an awesome result in this high-end range. Also great is the basic configuration of the ASRock motherboard, which we have already shown in the Unboxing Video.

ASRock X299 Taichi XE

Now is time for a bit upgraded version – Taichi XE. There are not many differences but there are users who find them important. I mean larger VRM heatsink and additional 8-pin power connector what should improve stability and overclocking potential while using Skylake-X processors, especially recently released 12-18 cores.
