ASUS TUF X299 MARK 1

ASUS’s ‘The Ultimate Force’ (TUF) lineup of boards expanded from one board on the X99 chipset (Sabertooth) to two on X299 with the TUF X299 Mark 1 and X299 Mark 2. The Mark 1 the more feature rich version for X299, with two ethernet ports, eight SATA ports, and a front USB 3.1 (10 Gbps) header, as well as the whole armor look.

ASUS TUF X299 MARK 1

We grab a Core i9 7900X processor and review the €289,- ASUS TUF X299 Mark 1 motherboard with it, yes the Sabertooth series is back. A nice looking motherboard in dark theme offering nice features, design and of course performance. This X299 motherboard can house Kaby-Lake-X and Skylake-X processors. Will the recent BIOS updates have fixed the initial Skylake-X issues?

Here for review we have the Asus X299 TUF Mark 1. At first glance, you might think its just another motherboard with an extra layer of marketing, but Asus has put their money where their mouth is. The TUF Mark 1 has an industry leading five year warranty, which is no small thing. Excellent!

ASUS TUF X299 MARK 1

With the release of the X299 chipset it was only a matter of time before the designers at ASUS returned to this theme and the X299 TUF Mark 1 is the result. We’re not sure if the Mark 1 part of the name indicates a aesthetic consideration for this particular model, or whether it is the beginning of a long line of motherboards with the TUF moniker rather than the Sabertooth one.
