MSI have included some very welcome additions on this X370 motherboard, including an additional M.2 slot, along with a custom designed heatsink ‘M.2 SHIELD FROZR’, to reduce the chance of your M.2 drive throttling. However, the party piece of the X370 GAMING M7 ACK is revealed in its name, ‘AC’ ‘Killer’.

Ten SATA III ports and 3 M.2 sockets ensure that even the most drive-rich setup is catered for. If you’ve ever found yourself having to condense smaller drivers into one larger one for port reasons, fear not, the XPOWER has you covered. Equally plentiful are USB 3.1 sockets.

MSI Z370 KRAIT GAMING

The MSI Z370 Krait Gaming falls under the Performance Gaming category from the manufacturer, and is deemed second only to the Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon variants in the same category. The “Krait” portion of the product name appears to be referring to a snake species from India, thus the scales on the box art and arcing pattern on the motherboard itself.

MSI X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

MSI’s X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC ($369.99 MSRP), as its name implies, tilts heavily toward gaming use. MSI Z370 GODLIKE GAMING

We recently saw Intel launch their 8th Generation Coffee Lake CPUs, and to use one of those CPUs you will need a Z370 chipset motherboard. All the major vendors have released Z370 chipset motherboards, but none of them went all-out with models that would be considered pinnacle creations within their own right, except MSI.

MSI Z370 PC PRO

It’s normal not to see any enthusiast-level features such as onboard buttons or a debug screen, but MSI does provide basic troubleshooting via four LEDs lined up by the 24-pin power port. The LEDs signify the debug status for the CPU, memory, GPU, and for boot, so should they stay on one of the first three, you know where the likely failing point is.
