MSI MPG Z490 GAMING CARBON WIFI

Here in rather lengthily named MPG Z490 Carbon Gaming WiFi format. Sporting all the high speed, high bandwidth technologies upon which we’ve come to rely, and marrying them up to the freedom of wireless networking and some pretty attractive looks, it could prove to be a trump card in the Z490 setup.

MSI MEG Z490 GODLIKE

The Godlike series from MSI, as the name would suggest, is designed to showcase what the brand is capable of. When cost is thrown out and everything else is thrown in, the result is a board that aims to be the best at everything. For the MSI MEG Z490 Godlike that means a top-tier 16 phase VRM with 90 A power stages, as well as a finned and actively cooled heatsink.

MSI MEG Z490 ACE

MSI uses eight Intersil phase controllers with 16 power stages (actually, 16+1 in total) rated at 90A and as we’ve mentioned, these are actively cooled. However, even in the fan’s boost mode where it spins up at the lowest temperature and after 10 minutes of full non-AVX load with our Core i9-10900K, the VRMs sat below 55°C and the fan failed to reach its start-up temperature.

MSI MAG Z490 TOMAHAWK

There’s large heatsinks, robust power delivery hardware, and more for your overclocking needs. Furthermore, you get fast networking thanks to the 2.5G LAN. Albeit, this is the first Z490 board on my desk this week that doesn’t have WiFi 6. However, you do get Turbo M.2, Lightning USB, Audio Boost, and more.

MSI MPG Z490 GAMING CARBON WIFI

It’s obviously not a “cheap” motherboard, but as I said, it’s not going to be right up with the ultra-expensive ones either. It’s certainly well equipped either way, with an impressive Enhanced Power Design for reliable overclocking. There’s also M.2 support, 2.5G LAN, AX WiFi, and a Lightning USB, and plenty more beyond. If that’s not ticking all the boxes for your next PC build, I’ll be shocked.

MSI MEG Z490 ACE

Plus you get extensive support for M.2, all complimented with M.2 Shield Frozr. ESS DAC & Nahimic for audio, and much more.
