GIGABYTE X299 AORUS Gaming 3

Today I’m going to check out the Gigabyte X299 Gaming 3 from the Aorus brand. It isn’t Gigabytes lowest priced board, but at just under $280 for the MSRP it is down close to the range that people who aren’t shopping for $1000 or more CPUs would be looking. So today I’m going to see what it’s all about, test it, then run down where it stands in the market.

ASUS PRIME X299-A

Today, we’re looking at the Prime X299-A from Asus, which retails for around £275, which is £25 less than the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming – not quite as cheap as other model’s we’ve yet to look at such as the Asus TUF X299 Mark 2 but a little more reasonable nonetheless.

ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING

Naturally as our GPUs require ever more cooling then the extra headers for case fans and the like become even more useful. It’s also nice to have the ability to control the fans to be quiet during those moments when you are just idly browsing the net, and the ASUS allows for that.

If you see an Asus mainstream motherboard with Deluxe in the title, you can be pretty sure of an extensive goody-bag lurking in the box, and while Asus’ premium X299 motherboard requires a hefty investment, we doubt any enthusiast’s heart rate wouldn’t climb when they take a look inside the box.

The Gaming 9 is packed full of features, which is no surprise, the Gigabyte AORUS Gaming 9 is the company’s flagship motherboard. Of course, you get just about every extra you can think of. If you’re building a high-end workstation, gaming system, VR rig, or even just doing some extreme overclocking, then you’ll find everything you need built-in.

ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E Gaming

The X299-E Gaming motherboard from ASUS is a high-end gaming motherboard, priced at around £300. That’s not cheap, but it’s about mid-range for the current crop of X299 boards that run up to £500 for the enthusiast models. Of course, it’s not exactly spartan on features at this price range, and you’ll find robust overclocking, RGB lighting, M.2 storage, and a whole lot more.

ASUS PRIME X299-A

It’s a good-looking board whose white, silver and blue accents contrast well with the black base, and the various features dotted around the PCB reveal that even the more affordable X299 offerings are crammed with up-to-date tech.
