The main area of difference is the CPU VRM which is improved for Intel’s Core i9 9900KS with its standard 127W TDP, up from 95W on the Core i9 9900K. While Intel’s i9 9900KS wasn’t released until October 2019, ASRock had already released the Phantom Gaming X revision by July 2019 in anticipation of the release that Intel had communicated to its board partners.

Intel’s Core i3-9350KF marks yet another iterative update to the company’s Core series, but it isn’t enough. AMD has stolen the overall performance leadership crown from Intel with its Zen 2 architecture, paired with the 7nm process in its Ryzen 9 and Threadripper 3000 series, but the damage also spans down to Intel’s high-volume budget offerings. The Supermicro X11SPM-TPF is a platform we have wanted to review since it originally came out. This is a mATX Intel Xeon Scalable motherboard which means it has relatively diminutive dimensions. Additionally, it utilizes the onboard Intel LAN function to provide dual SFP+ networking along with expansion capabilities in that compact package.

Rather than lay out its slots to support four double-slot graphics cards, ASRock treats that second x16-length slot as a storage option.
