The board features a fairly lowly 4+2 phase power delivery, and with fewer heatsinks than the B450 Aorus Pro, we’re likely looking at a board that will get pretty toasty with an overclocked eight-core Ryzen CPU – more on that later. The ROG Strix B450-F Gaming uses AMDs latest B450 chipset based on the AM4 socket, aiming to strike a balance between the cost effectiveness that the B450 chipset offers, as well as including features gamers expect and need. The ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX/ac is a high-end B450 mini-ITX motherboard, and there are not that many of them. ASRock added in a pre-driver to help with the HDMI 2.0 port, as well as WIFI so you can use the computer anywhere and included the high-end ALC1220 audio codec with full audio ports.

There aren’t too many options when it comes to smaller form factors and AMD boards at the moment, and they’ve been especially slow to trickle out for the newer X470 and B450 chipsets. Thankfully, MSI has added to its micro-ATX Mortar range with the board we’re looking at today, and this particular board, the MSI B450M Mortar, costs under £90 too.

While the AORUS board measures only 170mm x 170mm, the 2700X can still be equipped, giving any small form-factor system a healthy number of cores for processing work of any kind, providing you can cool the chip sufficiently, obviously.
