ASUS Launches B450 II Series Motherboards

No, you did not read that wrong. ASUS announced an updates II Series of B450 motherboards. With the recent launch of B550, this is a tad perplexing, but we’ll see how this works out. The B450 lacks any of the PCIe 4.0 goodness on B550, but the advantages thee at the moment are minimal in real world scenarios for the average user. The real benefit here is budget performance, and the addition of features like BIOS Flashback, Fan Xpert 4 and AI noise cancelling tech. Take a deeper look at ASUS.

AnandTech’s Best AMD Motherboard: 9/20

Our recommendations for motherboards are based entirely on my personal and professional opinion. There are notably a large number of different motherboards across the AMD chipsets including B450, X570 and more recently, B550, so I selected my top four picks based on the four market segments.

One of the things that I didn’t really expect when testing both the Celsius+ Prisma S24 and S28 models by Fractal Design was the significantly lesser noise levels compared to the S36 (roughly 8.5dBA less for the S24 and 7.5dBA less for the S28) which are also what makes them far more ideal for people who do care about this. Cooling efficiency on the other hand was much closer than expected with the S28 probably delivering the best price/performance ratio of the three (of course the lack of protective plates for the fins still has me puzzled).

Budget Micro ATX B550 Mobo Roundup

Specifically, we’ll be looking at the ASRock B550M-HDV ($80.99), Gigabyte’s B550M DS3H ($94.99), the MSI B550M Pro-VDH Wi-Fi ($109.99), and our costliest contender, the Asus Prime B550M K ($120.99). Compared to what we’ve looked at in the past on B550, these boards skip many of the accouterments we’re used to seeing, like RGB lighting, shrouds and heatsinks on some items, and premium power delivery.

ASUS PRIME Z490-A

The recommended $ 230 is more, and decent, than the average “ward temperature” of the Z490 motherboard market. And this is immediately a strong ideological blow to Prime. Yes, there are still little things to throw, finishing up to $ 240, and there are several ASUS ROG models at once, not to mention powerful offers in the assortment of MSI, Gigabyte and ASRock, and more exotic motherboard manufacturers.

ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC

The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC retains the military-grade metal aesthetic characteristic of the brand. It uses a meaty cooling solution that features multiple fin stacks which are ventilated by a trio of ASUS’s new-generation Axial-Tech fans. There’s lavish use of metal on both the cooler shroud and the backplate. The cooler is longer than the PCB underneath.
