The main area of difference is the CPU VRM which is improved for Intel’s Core i9 9900KS with its standard 127W TDP, up from 95W on the Core i9 9900K. While Intel’s i9 9900KS wasn’t released until October 2019, ASRock had already released the Phantom Gaming X revision by July 2019 in anticipation of the release that Intel had communicated to its board partners.

Where all other TRX40 motherboards with the luxurious options sell at 800~1000 USD even, ASRock outs their TRX40 Creator, and the price is 499 USD. A heck of a lot of money, but features wise you still receive AX WOFO and 10 Gbps Ethernet. Worth it?

It is no secret that the AMD 7nm chips run somewhat warmer than previous generations, but the unique ASRock X570 Aqua looks to shake things up. Keen observers will note that the primary reason that the other ASRock board we tested (the TRX40 Taichi) was designed with its top slot in the second location was that its voltage regulator encroached upon DIMM placement, and that ASRock had to basically halve the TRX40 Creator’s voltage regulator to fit it between those banks of DRAM.

Rather than lay out its slots to support four double-slot graphics cards, ASRock treats that second x16-length slot as a storage option. The highest possible slot space is instead occupied by an M.2 slot and covered with an aluminum shroud, as is the blank-looking space between the first and second PCIe slot.
