BIOSTAR Racing X370GTN

This review is on the Biostar X370GTN Mini ITX motherboard, which was the first mini-ITX motherboard released on the AM4 platform for AMD Ryzen and Bristol Ridge processors. The X370GTN joins a very short list of mini-ITX form factor AMD Ryzen compatible motherboards, but it comes in at one of the cheapest.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900X

AMD launched its Threadripper CPUs for high-end desktops. But, at the last minute, it also turned heads with a cheaper Ryzen Threadripper 1900X, an 8C/16T model that drops into X399-based motherboards. The company claims its 1900X is an ideal entry point for folks who might want one of the other Threadripper chips at some point down the line.

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO

The ASUS Crosshair VI Hero board features a black PCB with a plastic armor overlay covering the board’s rear panel and audio subsystem components. ASUS added RGB LED backlighting to the rear panel cover and chipset heat sink to illuminate the board and ASUS ROG logos, as well as under board lighting along the sound PCB separator line.

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VI EXTREME

The X370 chipset launched many months ago, and recently we have seen the launch of second wave X370 motherboards. The one we have here today is the Crosshair VI Extreme, which is ASUS’s top of the line X370 motherboard. Many had thought that the Crosshair VI Hero was going to be ASUS’s topmost X370 motherboard, but it seems that ASUS has moved the ante up a bit and released an even more loaded X370 motherboard.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X

GIGABYTE X399 AORUS Gaming 7

Appreciating the high-level similarity between chipsets – massive socket, eight DIMM slots, heaps of M.2 and storage in general – there is little reason to reinvent the wheel. In fact, we’re comfortable in saying that Aorus takes the same floor plan for this TR4 board, but that’s no bad thing.
