ASRock B560 Steel Legend

The ASRock B560 Steel Legend motherboard arrived at our office recently, and we thought it would be a good idea if we did a quick unboxing, and a brief look at this motherboard. The ASRock B560 Steel Legend features Intel’s latest mainstream chipset, the B560 and is suitable for the latest Intel 11th Gen (Rocket Lake), as well as the previous 10th Gen (Comet Lake) processors, both of which uses the LGA 1200 socket.

GIGABYTE B550 AORUS MASTER

The GIGABYTE B550 Aorus Master is based on AMD’s B550 chipset which is compatible with AMD’s socket AM4 CPU’s. The B550 Aorus Master is built using a 2oz. copper, 6-layer PCB and has a VRM sporting 16 power phases with 70A power stages. Very quickly you figure out that despite the semi-budget chipset, this isn’t a budget motherboard offering at all. GIGABYTE made some interesting design choices which seem to be designed to make the B550 Aorus Master something of a poor man’s X570 motherboard.

The MSI MPG B550I GAMING EDGE WIFI we have today is based on the AMD B550 chipset and like all others in this series of chipsets, this board features the design in terms of CPU, RAM, and PCI-Express support and reliability. GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS MASTER

The Aorus Z590 Master sits nearer the top of the stack and is priced at £410. Though it looks very similar to the Z490 version now on sale for around £330, there are key differences to be aware of, and it’s those we’ll focus on. The primary M.2 slot, closest to the CPU, only works if you have an 11th Gen Core chip in the socket – and no-one does right now – so if using 10th Gen chips it is redundant and you are left with the two slots to the left, underneath the heatsinks.

Intel Core i9-11900T Hits Geekbench

A new 11th Gen Intel chip has popped up on Geekbench, this time the octal-core Core i9-11900T. This looks to be a 35W TDP chip, and manages to keep up with Zen 3 processors in the single threaded results (1717). Multi-thread can’t keep pace, though still performs well for a 35W TDP part (8349). This chip was tested on an ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO. Head on over for more details.

AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5750G OC’d to 4.8GHz

A post over at Baidu shows an overclocking result for a purported AMD Ryzen 5750G Pro. The reporter had the chip overclocked at 4.8GHz at a whopping 1.47V to achieve stability. Apparently, the chip managed 4.9Ghz at 1.5V, but was unstable. I can’t say I’d sign up for those voltage levels long term, but it’s an interesting data point to see nonetheless.
