The MSI MEG Z490 Godlike motherboard was a monster when I first got it in hand, and I was excited to give it a run. From our testing and analysis, the board does not disappoint in regards to relative performance and feature sets. However, like any product, it is not infallible, so let’s jump into the bad/good of the new Godlike entry form MSI.

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK

The MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk again delivers a well-balanced feature set at a competitive price. Performance is up there with the more expensive boards, and the VRMs held their own even when overclocked. At $180, you’ll have to live without Wi-Fi and just six USB ports on the rear IO, but otherwise, this is a fully featured and capable option.

GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS MASTER

Despite the absence of PCIe 4.0 support, the Daisy Chain memory layout on the Z490 AORUS Master is still something that is worth taking note of, especially if you like to tweak with your memory settings. Such design gives users a better advantage in memory overclocking, notably on 2x8GB memory kits as compared to the T-topology layout on the  Z390 AORUS Master.

ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3

AsRock are one of the finest brands out there, and they’ve created many of the best looking and more feature-packed motherboards for several generations now. Premium, mini-ITX, Phantom, flagship, these are all words that roughly translate to expensive. ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E GAMING

ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E can accommodate up to two NVMe storage devices, all cooled with heatsinks. This board features an Intel WiFi 6 adapter and one 2.5 GigE Ethernet port. EVGA Z490 FTW WIFI

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING

Asus has some of the largest selection of motherboards and we have the minuscule ASUS ROG Strix B550-I motherboard on the test bench. The ROG Strix B550-I is a mini ITX motherboard which is great for small builds.  Over the last few generations, ITX boards have been able to meet the performance of their full-size counterparts and the Strix B550-I aims to keep this trend going.
