G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 C16 2x16GB

Hailing from the distinguished Trident lineage, the Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 memory kit that we have today aims to seduce even the pickiest buyers. The days when you had to use four or even six memory modules to get the capacity you want are behind us. Nowadays, the best memory comes in large capacities. The emergence of 16GB and 32GB DDR4 memory modules have really optimized how we use the memory slots on our motherboard; even mainstream platforms can use up to 128GB of memory with only four memory slots.

DDR5: Sub-timings and Latencies

Today we posted a news article about SK hynix’s new DDR5 memory modules for customers – 64 GB registered modules running at DDR5-4800, aimed at the preview systems that the big hyperscalers start playing with 12-18 months before anyone else gets access to them. It is interesting to note that SK Hynix did not publish any sub-timing information about these modules, and as we look through the announcements made by the major memory manufacturers, one common theme has been a lack of detail about sub-timings.

Corsair Force Series MP510 4TB NVMe M.2 SSD

The rarest SSD out there today is a 4TB consumer M.2 NVMe SSD with a TLC flash array. There are only two that we know of, one is by Sabrent, and the other is now by Corsair. Everything high capacity is trending QLC, and it doesn’t look like TLC will be around for long, at least not at capacity points above 2TB. With this in mind, we think now is the perfect time to jump on a drive like Corsair’s MP510 4TB SSD.

Western Digital SN550 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD

The performance of this drive is fantastic, and we saw that in testing with CDM pushing past marketing numbers at ~2400 MB/s read and ~1800 MB/s write. ATTO showed the amazing consistency of the drive holding both read and write performance solid through 64M while PCMark System Drive put it to the test, and it came away second only to the MP9+.

Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600 2x32GB

As you can see in our photo above, the Crucial Ballistix’s retail box design is quite different. For one thing, the Crucial branding is back. Other Ballistix kits I have reviewed the last few times all had their Crucial branding removed. The predominantly navy blue card stock packaging is as compact and simple as it gets.

No, you did not read that wrong. ASUS announced an updates II Series of B450 motherboards. With the recent launch of B550, this is a tad perplexing, but we’ll see how this works out. The B450 lacks any of the PCIe 4.0 goodness on B550, but the advantages thee at the moment are minimal in real world scenarios for the average user. The real benefit here is budget performance, and the addition of features like BIOS Flashback, Fan Xpert 4 and AI noise cancelling tech. Take a deeper look at ASUS.

One of the things that I didn’t really expect when testing both the Celsius+ Prisma S24 and S28 models by Fractal Design was the significantly lesser noise levels compared to the S36 (roughly 8.5dBA less for the S24 and 7.5dBA less for the S28) which are also what makes them far more ideal for people who do care about this. Cooling efficiency on the other hand was much closer than expected with the S28 probably delivering the best price/performance ratio of the three (of course the lack of protective plates for the fins still has me puzzled).
