ASRock Launches TAICHI RAZER EDITION Gaming Motherboards

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, November 30, 2020 –ASRock announced a new partnership with Razer to develop the ASRock Taichi Razer Edition line of motherboards, the world’s first motherboard that is natively integrated with Razer Chroma RGB lighting.

Razer Chroma RGB is the world’s largest lighting ecosystem for gaming devices which supports over 500 devices, 150 natively integrated games and over 15 million users worldwide. The integration with ASRock enables universal compatibility with thousands of addressable RGB (ARGB) components directly into the ecosystem.

“We’ve been so excited to make the ASRock Taichi Razer Edition debut. The sense of Razer sublimates it into a part of gamers’ religion,” said Chris Lee, general manager of ASRock motherboard business unit. “Razer knows well about elements gamers looking for and makes everything fall into place!”

ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition

The Razer Edition is a great board, and you don’t necessarily have to be a fan of Razer to use it. This is due to the addition of Chroma that allows addressable RGB for the entire motherboard independently, the chipset, edge lighting, and VRM can all be different colors if you want.

I’m extremely happy to see ASRock put effort into this board on the hardware side, making it a new hardware design with beefed-up power delivery for Zen 3 and swapped out the entire networking arrangement for a gaming driven platform with Killer Networks E3100G and AX1650.

ASRock Launches Deep Mini-ITX EPYC Board

The ASRock ROMED4ID-2T features a socket SP3 and supports AMD’s EPYC 7002-series processors in the LGA4094 packaging. The manufacturer does not disclose how much power the motherboard can deliver to the CPU or the list of processors compatible with the unit. But it is unlikely that this particular platform is designed for the highest-end EPYC chips.

GIGABYTE B550 AORUS MASTER

The board itself has a number of amazing features to look over, starting Dual Channel ECC/ Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR4, 4 DIMMs. You got Direct 16 Phases Digital VRM Solution with 70A Power Stage, along with an advanced thermal design with Fins-Array Heatsink, Direct Touch Heatpipe, and Thermal Baseplate. The plate is a bit of an oddity, depending on the model you’re hooking it into, it can make thermal contact with parts of the PCB, so something to keep an eye on when installing.

With the B550 TUF Gaming series, ASUS offers motherboards in the middle price segment. You can choose from two ATX and Micro-ATX mainboards, one with and one without WIFI. We take a closer look at the ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus variant. This is the version in ATX format and without WIFI. You can find out everything else in our test. MSI X570-A PRO

The MSI X570-A PRO is a very inexpensive motherboard from MSI. At the time of this writing, it can be had for around $139.99 and is one of the cheapest motherboards utilizing AMD’s venerable premium X570 chipset. This cheaper price does need to be taken into consideration moving forward, a price point such as this comes with its own expectations. We have to put ourselves into the mindset of this price range, and what components the end-user is installing around it.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-I GAMING

The Z490 chipset is built to accommodate the best of Comet Lake, however some prefer to use small mini-ITX configurations rather than ATX format monsters. In this game, manufacturers have not turned a deaf ear and have released a few models in small format, allowing you to take advantage of the best of the latest generation of processors from Intel, at least on paper.

ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XII APEX

Performance on the Apex was right around most other boards, particularly those with a bit more freedom from the Intel specification. Gaming performance was on par or better than most boards, and the other data sets showed similar results. As far as overclocking, we had zero issues pushing our Intel Core i9-10900K CPU to 5.2 GHz. RAM overclocking was painless, easily handling our DDR4 4000 kit. However, the board set the System Agent (VccSA) and IO (VccIO) voltage higher than most.

ASRock – Smart Access Memory on AMD B450

AMD’s requirements for Smart Access Memory are pretty simple. You need to own a Ryzen 5000 (Vermeer) processor, a Radeon RX 6000 (Big Navi) graphics card and a 500-series motherboard. However, ASRock’s latest firmware appears to defy the chipmaker’s conditions as the ASRock B450 Steel Legend motherboard is proof that the setting is available outside of 500-series motherboards.

Smart Access Memory isn’t a proprietary technology. In fact, Smart Access Memory is built upon the foundations of Resizable BAR (Base Address Register), a feature that’s part of the PCIe specification. Smart Access Memory is AMD’s unique fancy way of referring to the technology.
