“Though we did not have a motherboard here to do extensive hands-on testing, I did find some interesting overclocking information about the Lynnfield CPU and the ASUS motherboards that I thought I would share. First up is in regards to memory speeds: apparently Lynnfield CPUs that run at 2.8 GHz and 2.93 GHz will be able to run memory at 1600 MHz at stock settings while the 2.66 GHz parts will only be able to push 1333 MHz.”

“Perhaps the most interesting little feature about this board is the inclusion of a dipswitch which controls FSB overclocking. There are four settings which can take the FSB from stock speed, up through 10%, 15%, and 20% overclock. While the FSB can be controlled in the BIOS as well, it is interesting to see a motherboard manufacturer go back to dipswitch overclocking. I thought we got over that after the K6 and Athlon days?”
