"I do not recommend it for the enthusiasts who are really into computers. But, for those of you who want to try out X79 chipset for your next computer I think the ECS EliteGroup X79R-AX is a great a choice and affordable as well."

"Being a somewhat 'affordable' X79 motherboard brand you'll be shocked and flabbergasted by all the features that ECS offers. Extra buttons, extra LEDs, diagnostic POST displays, three USB 3.0 controllers allowing up-to 6 USB 3 devices, you'll get plenty of SATA ports (14!) of which eight are SATA3 (two eSATA's included)."

"For the most part the ECS X79R-AX Intel X79 motherboard performed on par with our other Intel X79 systems. In most of our tests it was just below the performance level of the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD7. In all fairness though, we are talking very small margins of maybe 1%-2% total, well within any margin of error in the benchmarks that we used today."

"With the launch of Intel's latest well under way, ECS has sent us another warrior to battle the twin dragons of injustice, the ECS X79R-AX. Undoubtably the best board ECS has ever released, the ECS X79R-AX is ready for battle, after receiving training no ohter boards has."

"ECS has released two motherboard models for the new socket 2011 platform, the X79R-AX and the X79R-AX Deluxe, targeted to the most high-end processor Intel offers for desktops today, the Core i7 "Sandy Bridge-E" models. Let's take a look at the X79R-AX, which comes with four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, eight SATA-600 ports, six USB 3.0 ports, and more."

"Today, though, we take the time to check out something a lot higher end in the form of the Intel X79 based X79R-AX. We saw ECS do a pretty good job with the lower end A75 board; it will be interesting to see how they handle the new high end chipset from Intel along with our high end i7 3960X CPU."
