Gigabyte introduced a new ITX mainboard based on the H55 chipset that also features USB3.0 onboard. We tested the board to see if ITX boards are finally grown up and can be used to build an all-round system.
2 TweakTown
Not all that long ago VIA introduced a new form factor called Mini-ITX. It was a great idea; a small yet powerful board layout that allowed a decent amount of flexibility. Unfortunately VIA did not have the marketing muscle to get wide acceptance and the idea fell into obscurity. It was not until Intel launched the Atom CPU that we saw a return of the Mini-ITX.
3 PC Perspective
I've been testing mini ITX motherboards from a variety of vendors including Zotac and VIA to name a few, but never I've tested one with the power, performance, and feature set included with the H55N-USB3. Gigabyte's first mini ITX board should give other vendors something to strive for as they look to create a small motherboard with full-size features.

As such we see that the H55N-USB3 motherboard is ready for all LGA 1156 Core i3/i5 and i7 processors, it is equipped with four SATA 2 ports, a x16 PCIe Slot for high-end graphics, durable components like solid chokes and very quality capacitors, optical Toslink SPDIF output, and when paired with a Clarkdale based Core i3 or i5 processor the ability to utilize the D-SUB (VGA), DVI or HDMI connector. Oh and it's got USB 3.0 as well.
5 FutureLooks
"The GIGABYTE H55N-USB3 sports the Ultra Durable 3 platform improvements necessary to support Dynamic Energy Saver 2 and secure an ErP certification to satisfy European Union regulations. It also fully supports the entire line of Intel LGA1156 processors, in particular the Core i3 and i5 with integrated graphics processors and of course Intel Turbo Tech."
6 Funky Kit
"Mini-ITX motherboards have many uses, including the building of customised systems for users who have specific requirements. Things like surveillance systems, AV systems and even industrial equipment. It's compact size is the key to its success. However, this is also its downfall."
7 Hardware Secrets
"Today we are taking a look at the H55N-USB3, a mini-ITX socket 1156 motherboard from Gigabyte based on the Intel H55 chipset, allowing you to build a mainstream computer in an SFF (Small Form Factor) case. Let's check it out."
