COLORFUL BATTLE AX C.B360M-HD Deluxe V20

The first B360 board I got my hands on is the Colorful C.B360M-HD Deluxe V20. Colorful Group is a China-based manufacturer of all manner of consumer electronics, from ATX power supplies to hi-fi players. The company is best known for their graphics cards and, of course, their motherboards. To put the Colorful C.B360M-HD Deluxe V20 in context, I first need to briefly run through some of the changes to the B360 chipset from Z370.

ASUS PRIME Z370-A

The Prime Z370-A supports keeping all three of its x16-length slots active, even when hosting two M.2 drives, which should be seen as a significant benefit by anyone who might ever consider installing two M.2 drives. Sharing problems are still present but lessened, as the second M.2 slot gets only two PCIe lanes until the user goes into firmware and sets the slot to x4 mode, which disables two of the SATA ports.

MSI B360 GAMING PRO CARBON

We have another  B360 motherboard up for review, the MSI B360 Gaming Pro Carbon. Again a very price friendly motherboard that can house a fast 6-core Coffee Lake processor. With a full PCIe x16 graphics card slot, full speed M2 SSD capability and six SATA3 ports, these B360 motherboards might become the new mainstream.

MSI B360M MORTAR TITANIUM

On the plus side, even though the MSI B360M Mortar Titanium we’re looking at today is a £100 board, we get full-fat USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C ports powered by the B360 chipset itself. The downsides mainly focus on the number of general purpose PCIe 3.0 lanes, which fall from 24 with Z370 to 20 with B360, while the maximum number of high speed I/O lanes falls from 30 to 24.

ASUS ROG STRIX H370-F GAMING

The familiar looking ROG STRIX Gaming series is paired with a Core i7 8700K today, is a motherboard positioned in the affordable mainstream segment of the line-up. It very decent looks (even including some LED bling), offers features like higher-grade onboard audio, 2x M.2 SSD support (one with heatsink), GigE Ethernet interfaces (Intel), and a reinforced PCIe x16 slots.
