MSI MEG Z390 ACE

With the Z390 chipset, the MEG Z390 ACE as an ATX board supports the eighth and ninth generation Intel core processors (Coffee Lake-S Refresh). Native USB 3.1 support is already on board, so other additional chips can be omitted. The motherboard offers three PCIe x16 slots, but only one of them is connected to the chipset with all 16 lanes, while the other two are eight and eight respectively.

MSI MEG Z390 GODLIKE

The MSI MEG Z390 Godlike is one of the most expensive motherboards on the market. It’ll set you back $599 in the US and £545 in the UK, which is a vast amount of cash to spend on a motherboard. It’s also more than its key rival costs – the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Xtreme is around $50 and £45 cheaper. Can this board possibly justify an even higher price than one of our current favourites?

GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS XTREME

The Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Extreme is one of the most expensive motherboards that you can buy for an Intel Z390 system. It’ll set you back a vast $550 in the US and £500 in the UK – which makes it more expensive than many of the processors, GPUs and other components that you may end up installing into a build. The new ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M motherboard we are reviewing here is a truly unique product. Fitting in a small mITX form factor, this platform suited for servers with short depth requirements. Most motherboards in this class would use something along the lines of an Intel Xeon E-2100, Intel Xeon D or Atom CPU. Instead, ASRock Rack fits a massive socket LGA3647 for the Intel Xeon Scalable family.

ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6

ASRock does an excellent job of tweaking its design to shave money off its budget-priced X399 board, delivering an adequately equipped and modestly performing motherboard. Though not quite on-par with typical X399 offerings, this interpretation of the chipset may force others to lower the cost of entry into AMD’s HEDT space.

ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING

As the name would suggest, the ASUS TUF Z390-Pro Gaming is part of the TUF Gaming Alliance, a collaboration spearheaded by ASUS to produce a family of hardware with a common visual theme and exceptional quality and durability. Now, if someone had tried to sell me, sight unseen, on a black/gray and yellow color scheme with digital cameo accents, I would have had trouble taking them seriously.
