There’s USB 3.1, M.2 ports, the latest Wi-Fi standards, RGB lighting, etc. – they all add to asking prices, and finding a happy medium can be tricky, especially as you dip below £150 where things start to get very price-sensitive. The MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk is slap-bang in the middle of all of this being the cheapest Z390 board we’ve reviewed so far. So what, if any, corners have been cut to get there?

MSI has given the MEG Z390 Godlike motherboard a name that promises a huge amount. MEG (MSI Enthusiast Gaming) and Z390 are self-explanatory while Godlike sets out the stall and promises this motherboard will deliver a list of features that are second to none.

Of course with a new processor and unique features comes a new chipset and a plethora of motherboards to choose from as the consumer. You can go all out and spend $500 on a board or spend significantly less and still get a motherboard that performs well and delivers all the things you expect from it. That being said, the motherboard I am looking at today is from ASUS ROG lineup, the ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming.
