Whether you are really faster than your opponent with the fast Ballistix Max RGB modules remains to be seen, but the speed stored in the XMP 2.0 profile is quite impressive. Thanks to the heat spreader, nothing really stands in the way of overclocking with increased voltage.

As you can see in our photo above, the Crucial Ballistix’s retail box design is quite different. For one thing, the Crucial branding is back. Other Ballistix kits I have reviewed the last few times all had their Crucial branding removed. The predominantly navy blue card stock packaging is as compact and simple as it gets.

Continuing along, the Rocket Q4 chewed through AS SSD like it was no big deal, and when unleashed on ATTO, the Rocket Q4 served up truly elite performances. Next and probably the most impressive for a QLC SSD, the Rocket Q4 delivered over 800 MB/s when writing 100GB of data. Rounding things out, the Rocket Q4 served up excellent user experience, as demonstrated by our PCMark 1o Quick System Disk test.

The Cardea Ceramic C440 is priced on the higher side compared to most Gen3 SSDs, but the device is rather competitive as a Gen4 SSD. It costs significantly less than the Samsung 970 PRO as well as the Seagate FireCuda 520 at both capacity points.

The HP V8 kit I have for testing today is one of their mid-spec kits: 8 GB (1x 8 GB) 3600 MHz at 18-20-20-40 timings and 1.35 V. 3600 MHz has become the new gold standard for Ryzen builds, driving new focus into memory kits targeting a previously obscure specification. Today’s review unit of the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4-3600 2x16GB arrived from Patriot’s American offices in Fremont, California. Traveling with UPS and their Standard ground service, this package arrived in great condition with no real issues to speak of. This shipment came to our APH Networks offices in Calgary, Alberta.

We’ve said it time and time again that it is hard to find a solid DDR4 memory kit that does not have RGB lighting. Well Patriot wants to change that with their new Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 memory. This modules feature an all black design (hence the Blackout name), which will more or less match any build out there. The kit we are taking a look at today is the PVB464G360C8K which is a 64GB (2x16GB) kit running at 3600 MHz with timings of 18-20-20-40 at 1.35V.

The only other model which was able to exchange blows with the Ballistix MAX kit is the equally fast (slightly faster actually if we also take timings into account) Trident ROYAL kit by GSkill. Unfortunately, due to motherboard limitations the X299 system wouldn’t boot no matter what i did at frequencies over 4GHz so i had to use the Z390 system for overclocking, even though it ended going up to just 4200MHz (i was expecting a stable 4400MHz which didn’t happen, not with 1.4V and CL19)

Team Group has been in business since 1997. However, they’ve really been making a name for themselves lately with their T-Force Gaming line up. Team Group does all their own research and development in house. This helps to keep production costs down which helps the consumer in the end.
