EVGA X299 Dark

It’s extremely over-engineered in regards to circuits and injects features and quality when they aren’t really required. Both the right and left edges of the PCB are plated with gold as are some exposed pathways on the PCB, and it’s very hard to bend the PCB because of it.

EVGA Z370 FTW

As you can see, the motherboard is pretty competitive regarding features. Equipped with onboard power controls, high-end power delivery hardware, dual BIOS, Optane support, and more, it should be a strong competitor when it comes to overclocking. Of course, how it stacks up in the real world vs how it stacks up on paper are two different things, so let’s get it on the test bench asap.

EVGA Z370 Classified K

We often borrow the specifications table from the manufacturers website so as to ensure that we don’t accidentally miss a feature, or take something for granted that might be important to a prospective purchaser. The majority of the EVGA Classified K reads like a what’s what of current Z370 motherboard thinking, but spotting the Creative Sound Core3D audio is a nice surprise.

The best word to describe EVGA’s foray into motherboard territory is sporadic. Never the first to debut on a chipset from Intel, the firm takes time to produce distinctive-looking boards. A case in point is the new range comprising Intel’s latest Z370 and X299 chipsets. Both platforms have three boards each.

EVGA Z370 Micro

EVGA came back on the motherboard scene by releasing a total six boards evenly split between the high-end desktop X299 and more mainstream Z370 series. The latter is home to Intel’s 8th Gen Core chips alone, and it represents a clean break from any other chipset/chip from the past.

EVGA Z370 Micro

Thanks to EVGA, we’ll be taking a quick look at their Z370 Micro ATX Motherboard. A few months ago, we reviewed their X299 Micro motherboard, which proved to be a great all-rounder and a solid performer. The EVGA Z370 Micro should be no different. The EVGA Z370 Micro is one of the first Z370 motherboards on the market that comes in a micro ATX form factor, and is suitable for all Intel 8th genCore processors (Coffee Lake).

EVGA X299 Micro

The X299 Micro has three full-length PCIe slots, supporting up to 2-way graphics. The physical slot configuration allows for a dual slot GPU to fit in the primary GPU slot (top) and the secondary just below it. Technically EVGA’s manual suggests support for SLI plus an additional PhysX graphics card, should single-slot GPUs be in play, with the third slot being a PCIe 3.0 x4 from the chipset.
