XtremeDDR PC-3500+

..:: Quake III Arena ::..
For our Quake III tests, we used 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, and 1280 x 1024 resolutions with both 16-Bit and 32-Bit color modes. All tests were run with memory settings of 166MHz and 200MHz. We ran our tests on the Demo001 map and results are shown above. With these tests, we see that the XtremeDDR is holding up to its claim of being the gamer’s memory. As we can see, at identical memory settings, each of the sticks are extremely close to each other in performance with the XtremeDDR stick coming out on top, followed by the Corsair XMS 3000 v1.1 and then the Samsung module. One major item to point out is the performance DROP between 166MHz and 200MHz. This is due to the fact that these sticks have to be throttled down a bit in order to achieve these higher speeds. If you’re running with a stock front side bus, you’ll want to leave the sticks at 166MHz instead of 200MHz for best performance. Oh the perils of technology.
