    ..:: Introduction ::..

         OCZ has come a long way since their inception. They’ve grown into a fan favorite, becoming well known for high quality, high performance components that appeal to the performance guru in us all. OCZ has also expanded into several other realms of the PC world, but that’s for another time, another review.

         DDR2 RAM has been around now for a little while, and has certainly started to pick up pace with development. In the initial runs, there weren’t too many options out there for high performance DDR2 modules, but with time and a little engineering elbow grease, we’ve seen some spectacular frequencies coming from the latest DDR2 lines.

         One of the better points from a marketing perspective is that OCZ has broken up their products into five different categories, Platinum, Gold, Titanium, Performance, and Value. Too many manufacturers out there limit their branding to one or two namesakes, leaving users looking for “something in the middle” out to dry. By branding their RAM in such a more diversified way, OCZ can also attract these users who might not be looking for low end budget RAM, or expensive high performance RAM.

         Today, we’ll be taking a look at OCZ’s 2x512MB PC2-6400 Gold Series RAM. With a frequency rating of 800MHz at 1.9V, you’re sure to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of that system, and at a reasonable price as well. Before we take a good look-see at the modules themselves, let’s take a quick look at the rated specifications for these PC2-6400 modules.
