As you can see, with the 800MHz frequency rating comes with a loss in timings. In order to achieve these frequencies with 100% stability, OCZ has rated the PC2-6400 Gold with timings of 5-5-5-10. On an Intel system, these timings don’t tend to play too much of a role overall, but if you’re looking for standard 400MHz or 533MHz DDR2, you’ll likely find better performance from RAM with lower default timings. This PC2-6400, however, is made for overclocking, and with overclocking there must always be some give and take. In this case, give frequency, and take timings, much like frequency and heat with processors.
The most notable physical feature of these sticks has to be the golden heatspreader. I’ve always been fond of these polished heatspreaders from OCZ, if not for their cooling characteristics, for their looks and added aesthetics to any system. If you take a look at the picture above, you’ll see these sticks in all their beauty, as well as the standard OCZ sticker stating the rated timings for the RAM.
The best part about these sticks has to be OCZ’s Lifetime Warranty. OCZ warranties these sticks up to 2.2V ±5%, for the life of the RAM. If the sticks fail underneath this voltage threshold, they’re going to be covered, and you won’t be out a sizeable amount of dough.
